Share Your Adoption Story

My name is Amy and I am compiling adoption stories, poetry, letters of anyone who has been adopted, in the process of adopting, given their child up for adoption...basically anyone who has been affected by adoption. I have been adopted and my goal is to create an online adoption community full of stories to relate to, understand and help those who have been affected by adoption.

Has adoption touched your life or your family and friends? By gathering and sharing heartfelt and heartache adoption stories, we find common ground to strengthen families, as well as educate people. Please forward this on to as many people as you feel could contribute; I want to share everyone's side of the story including birth families, couples in waiting, as well as adoptive families.

How long are the submissions?
A maximum of seven paragraphs in length is preferred (300-800 words), but if you exceed this amount, it still may be approved. Your insight and personal experience will help other readers going through the same process and just may help those in need the most. You can send a photograph or child drawing for use with your story.

Whose story?
Everyone’s perspective - adoptive couples, grandparents, siblings, friends, adopted children young and old (children may submit drawings), birth parents and birth grandparents, couples waiting to adopt etc.

I also think it'd be wonderful to obtain poetry or letters written from the mother or child intended for the other party, or journal entries if you would like to share them.

Read my story or poem.

How?
Just start writing and the words will come. Share your reflections on your experiences and adoption in general. Share what it meant to you and what you've become because of it. You may share your personal faith in God.

For more information or to submit your story and/or photograph, please email me at amy@adoptionbio.com (please use a word file and jpg for any pictures.)

Thanks!
